Went back to school yesterday. Virtually, 7 years later, but it still hit the same.
Got to sit on a Zoom call with 9th-12th graders at Amity Pushp Vihar and share a bit about life after school. Did it with Tanmay and Simran, two people who have had my back through everything.
I talked about my life at school, my experiences at college, and finally about ending up in Nigeria building eye healthcare. About how none of this was planned. About careers being messy and that being okay. Mostly I just wanted to be honest about the parts nobody posts about, the rejections, the doubt, the figuring it out as you go.
But the thing I kept coming back to was the school itself. This school never said no to anything I wanted to try. That is not a small thing. The freedom to explore without being boxed in shaped everything about how I operate today. It is crazy how much personal investment the teachers here put into each student. The fact that I can message my principal, Ameeta Mohan, after 7 years and she is genuinely excited about what we are doing, that says everything.
I had an incredible support system in my family, teachers and friends when I was in school. If even one student walked away today feeling a little less anxious about what comes next, it was worth showing up.
Grateful. Excited to stay connected and give back however I can!
